Hello, my friends!
This morning - January 28, 2026 - feels like one of those classic high-impact days we all circle on the calendar.
We’ve got earnings from several of the MAG 7 (Meta, Microsoft, Tesla) layered right on top of the FOMC rate decision.

💥 It’s the kind of setup that can send volatility spiking and impulses firing in every direction.
🫁 If you’re not day-trading like I am or carrying leveraged medium-term positions, take a breath. There’s no need to force anything here.
👀 Sometimes the smartest move is simply to step back, watch how it unfolds, and use the moment to reinforce a lesson we seem to revisit every few months.
FOMO is eternal.
I know many of you are deep in the trenches of day trading, grinding to build that genuine edge and move into consistent profitability. It’s demanding work - mentally, emotionally, and time-wise - and I respect the commitment it takes.
Proprietary Solution:
One practice I’ve seen work consistently (and that many institutional desks enforce) is a written Trading Plan.
Not a loose set of guidelines, but a clear framework:
Precise entry triggers
Confluence factors that must align
Minimum risk-reward ratios
Time-of-day or session filters
Position-sizing rules
Lastly MY favourite - invalidation levels.
To make it real and enforceable, pair that plan with a standardized pre-trade checklist - digital or on paper, doesn’t matter. Before any order goes in, every single criterion has to be checked off and recorded.
Today’s High Impact Window

Incoming timeline in EST:
2:00 PM ET: FOMC Rate Statement & Interest Rate Decision
2:30 PM ET: FOMC Press Conference with Chair Powell
5:30 PM: Microsoft (MSFT) Earnings Release
5:30 PM: Tesla (TSLA) Q2 Earnings Release
This is precisely the environment where ego can quietly slip in front of process. We've all felt it at some point - it's completely normal. My reminder to myself (and to you) today is to protect the edge you've worked to build.
